xin1jun2 SG odd i saw TIB600 do 106 the toher night. anyhow i saw many bendys parked at geylang lor 1 on sunday july 27. i speculated that they were for bus 985, since they can not be that many bendy habits on 980 at the terminal at one time. i saw about7 habits parked all over the place. could be that after trying habits for one day, they decided to remove them from bus 985 becoz of low demand i suggest a general boycott of bus 985 (beyond bt timah.to Kallang mRT) ZYX

SBS9818A SG Since Sv. 985 follows the route of Sv. 961 and Sv. 853 into and out of Geylang Lor 1 terminal, it is not possible for O405Gs unless they turn out like Sv. 980, and make a u-turn after the bus "park".
SBS9818A SG Yes, forgot to mention how pathetic the loads for Sv. 985 are, I was watching the buses go by Jln TPY on Sat, and passenger load is miserable, with only 2 or 3 passengers inside the bus. With Sv. 989 at least seating-wise it would be full.

xin1jun2 SG this 985 reminds me of the good old days when almost all the hinos volgrenz can be found on 188 or earlier before 188...961!!! fyi 985 is permly using some TIB949, 951, 948, 952, 955, 956 apparently 3 sets of deadly hino volgz twins ZYX

off_service SG I believe the DAFs were exchanged from the Volgren Hinos on the Bt Batok feeder services.
off_service SG I think I know the reasons for the introduction of service 985. I read in the papers that sv 985 actually “covered” a small part of sv 106’s previous route. This was from a reader who complaint about the loss of 5 SBST services too much.
tranquilice SG I was thinking of this too. Service 985 is a much faster link than service 106 for Bt Batok passengers to get to and fro Bendemeer Rd. But the load of service 985 along Bendemeer Rd, Boon Keng Rd and Lor 1 Geylang tells us that there's no need for a connection between Choa Chu Kang/Bt Batok and Bendemeer/Kallang Bahru areas.

SBS9818A SG Yes. It would be better if it continued to Changi Airport, at least there will be loads. I think Sv. 985 could be a stop-gap measure to "replace" Sv. 106, in any case people from Bukit Batok would want to go to Little India instead of Boon Keng!
TropicalSQ744 SG From my observation of 985 a few days ago, there was only 1 passenger onboard before it went on the PIE. Would it be better if 985 was routed to ply CCK-Marina centre (Loop) like how 857 does? Marina Centre has definately more potential pax than Geylang.
