New SBST service 109

I've been informed that SBST will be introducing service 109 to Choa Chu Kang. Route details unknown.

We will update on this once we get the information.

From the looks of the number, it looks like a service from ToaPayoh/Bishan/Serangoon kind of service. E.g. 103, 105, 106 (ex), 107, all operate within the Serangoon area.

Yes, even the new service 39 that operates in the Tampines area.
However, service 168 does not really follow this rule.

I hope that svc 109 may replace service 989 to Changi Airport

Don't know don't care. From the looks of it this is a rumour, nothing else. If it so happens I expect it to be Serangoon - Bishan - Choa Chu Kang, on the following route:

Serangoon Int
Serangoon Central
Boundary Rd
AMK Ave 1
Bishan Rd
Braddell Rd
Adam Rd
PIE
BKE
KJE
Brickland Rd
CCK Ave 3
CCK Interchange

Logical enuf, except I think instead of Adam Road, it will cut through Toa Payoh. This will give them a direct link to Choa Chu Kang without having to transfer at Stevens Road.

And instead of KJE, I suspect it will go via Bukit Panjang. It makes more business and convenience sense there - more potential ridership. BUT on the other hand, 109 is an SBSTransit bus, so it may not cut through Bukit Panjang afterall, unless it terminates at Bukit Panjang instead of CCK.

Cannot. One has to take into account the stupid PTC ruling of two home territories and one foreign territory, the route must take FASTEST path to interchange in the foreign territory.

If Sv. 109 were to start in Bishan, it definitely would cut through Toa Payoh first. But it will not terminate at Bukit Panjang, the town is just too small, although I would like to see it cut through so I can go to my cousin's place easier. That is, if this route is even going to be implemented in the first place.

I have run this by my sources, and they tell me that they haven't yet heard anything about a route 109. I think we shall wait and see. Also, why would it run along the expressways when it could go along Bt Timah Rd, Upp Bt Timah Rd, and then onward to CCK via the current route 67?

hmm.. true.. very profitable somemore, but traffic congestions!! It seems that bus services going to far-flung HDB estates via expressways are very popular now...

Hmm yeah... a novel phenomenon gaining popularity now. I have yet to see a service from Yishun to Tuas or Jalan Bahar though.

Do not forget about the stupid PTC ruling, whereby a service from let's say, SBST's home territory to TIBS territory has to bypass two of SBST's own territories, and take the FASTEST route to the "enemy" territory without endangering fare revenue of the competitor, in exceptional cases this is relooked into if there is NO fastest way to the interchange.
