Breaking News: Yishun is No more TIBS territory

Hello guys!

I just returned from 857 and 806 when i saw the SBS Transit banner put near the 855 berths announcing Service 39! I was like "what the.." lol

It serves Yishun, Sengkang, Pasir Ris, and Tampines. (Route is Yishun - Tampines) I couldnt see much as i didnt wnat to get out of the 806 queue. I first suspected something was going on when i spotted a 0405 at Yishun central and several Volvo B10Ms at Mandai area a few weeks ago.

So what do u guys think? WIll TIBS go into Bishan too?

BTW the service will start this Sunday (17th August) and will probably use the empty berths between 855 and 853

After 39 starts, I suspect TIBS will transfer the better buses (0405/0405G) and remove the Lances from 969s fleet in order to compete.

I suspect this maybe another round of the "1 for 1" exchange thing like what happened to 965/969 and 161/168... WHat do you guys think?

I believe TIBS can turn 969 into a full/near full 0405G fleet if it wants.

However the last time I visited Tampines Int, it seems that there is some parking space shortage for 0405Gs, especially since TIBS operates 67, another service is competing for space with 969.

I saw SBS 2723E along Yishun Ave 2 with Sv. 8 desto for some unknown reason, saw it at Tampines Int an hour later. Reccie for Sv. 39 drivers, probably?

WHen did u spot it?

I saw a MK4 B10M (STrider or DM3500, not sure) about 1+ weeks ago praking at one of the berths between 853 and 855 and it left promptly after picking up some SBS Transit drivers. I did not think much of it as I thought it was a replacement for EB88.

Last Tuesday. Me and XYZ were wondering what the hell that guy was doing in Yishun with some SBST drivers inside.

No difference. The service terminates at both points.

To SBST and TIBS,it makes a difference for some unknown reasons, though practically, there is no diff. I think it is out of respect for the other company by putting their controlled interchange first then the opponent's interchange, and i think it would something like forcing their way in if they do it the other way. Not sure abt how the others view it though.

For example, 168 :Btw Bedok and Woodlands
969: Woodlands to Tampines
858: Woodlands to Changi Airport

Very true, they are trying to make passengers notice their controlled interchange, technically no difference. I would like to see it Yishun - Tampz, making people think SBST are "invading" Yishun.

The poster states very clearly Tampines - Yishun. And this service does not serve Sengkang, it only travel express along TPE and SLE, and also does not stop outside Seletar Camp like services 168 and 858.

Do notice that a part of the route of service 39 between Tampines Ave 2 and Pasir Ris Dr 1 is the same as services 17. I believe Pasir Ris passenegers will feel happy that now they have a service to Yishun without transferring to service 969 at Tampines. I think that Tibs will introduces a new similar service soon to compete with service 39.

Not only, Sv. 39 also follows Sv. 81 route from Tampines Ave 2 to Pasir Ris Drive 12. More "convenience" for passengers, but perhaps with a cost later on.
