Yes I do agree the vents have no difference in the heat generated by the engine, it is the amount of stress generated by the governing of the engine. Stupid...

There goes one of my favourite bus service that is no longer chaste from the Lance 211...SOBS....Can only hope it is a rare cameo like the Nissan Diesels on 965. Damn those at Woodlands Depot who decided they were a bit short on buses and requisition the wretched Brit from AMK depot! That really spoils my day.

Now I can only hope that 965 is still free from that Brit bus forever...

This is not the only time that service 969 got Lance 211. Airbus330Captain saw one few days ago. Also, I'm hoping that service 962 and 963 won't get it, that goes to service 859 also, since the sub buses are from AMKDEP. Sadly, ELBO has already invaded into service 963 fleet. Sad

I have seen both 965 and 969 with the "British" Lance TIB10xx before, on several occasions.

But should be not be permanent buses.

NOoooooo! Lance 245 still okay the engines are quite powerful, but definitely not the Lance 211! Sad Maybe this explains why so many of the Lance 211s on 852 and 853 had disappeared...how I wish they would just disappear onto services that I don't take

I second your opinion. Nissan Diesels have since taken over some Lance 211 on service 852.

Good to see Lance 211s on Sv. 969, imagine if it speeds on the highway faster than the SBST VSOs also plying somewhat the same route.

It will be left eating the dust or the driver will panic as he see the temperature needle go to red for the 20 or so minutes. Period.

Especially against SBS 9846. Do you know that a MkIII on 86 can outrun a TIBS MB 0405 Volgren on 965, both on max power on TPE?

Lance 211's engine gets heated up easily. They should be deployed on short services or feeder services so they can rest faster and more frequently. Look at 1004R, you will know what I mean.

Yeah, TIB 1014 is ready to follow in its footsteps sooner or later if TIBS don't do anything about it.....Perhaps the EDS and the interior wouldn't be so lucky this time round.

Lance 211s and 245s do make sporadic, but regular appearances on all the feeders in Yishun already, but I'm not sure about Woodlands

Don't assume, just because you have a thing against Lance 211s doesn't mean it can't go fast on the highways. We have to try one to know.

Lance 211 can go fast, only thing is that engine gets extremely hot.

I do believe there are checks and electrical wizardry in place to ensure the engine doesn’t overheat.

Dont be surprise if the engine explodes while speeding down the expressway. After riding on 1015J last week , I find the bus a horrible and probably the worst bus in Singapore . Even Scania n113 engine doesnt sound so rough and shake so violently then Lance 211 .

Explain TIB 1004 please, the driver had plenty of time at junctions to hear the alarm or something if its functioning in the first place. Moreover, the Lentor sector is only a bit of express compared to 15-25 minutes of non-stop speeding on the highway

So far, no. 1 or 2 years back, feeder 903 had DAFs for few months, before reverting back to 0405s.

By the way, I have experienced loud humming sound from Mk IVs frequently, on various services.

And within these occurances, the aircon will sometimes turn off suddenly when the driver's panel emits a chime sound.

No matter what, the 211s are respectable performers as well. And after taking them for 3 years, I don't think both are far apart on performance.
