Sorry if it's old news, I'm pretty nostalgic when it comes to buses, and went to dig out information on our old SBS buses which had retired, and what had become of them.

Hey Tripp, the Leyland Atlantean of the first picture was Singapore's First batch of Leyland Atlanteans. Regarding to the model, I think that it is a AN 68.

The second picture is another Leyland Atlantean with Alexander L-Type Body.

Did SBS only purchase the following DD buses over its history:

1. Leyland Atlanteans 2-axles,
2. Mercedes Benz O305 2-axles,
3. Leyland Olympians 2-axles,
4. Leyland Olympians 3-axles,
5. Volvo Olympians 2-axles,
6. Volvo Olympians 3-axles,
7. Volvo Super Olympian 3-axles,
8. Dennis Trident 3-axles.

Hi,

On top of the list of DD you listed above, which were bought in bulk, SBS also did purchase a few other models as demonstrators.

They are:
1. Scania BR112DH (SBS7000E) with East Lancs body, introduced in 1982 and was taken off service around the time Service 31 was extended to Toa Payoh.

2. Volvo B55-Ailsa (SBS4741U) with Alexander body, introduced in 1985 and was deregistered around the mid-1990s.

3. Volvo B10MD (SBS4961B) with East Lancs body, introduced in 1984 and was deregistered in the mid-1990s.

Talking about MB O.305, they were indeed very powerful horses, running on the roads. They could even handle mountainous, or roads that have higher gradient (i.e. Slope at S’goon Ave 2).

Which one? The B55-Ailsa or the B10MD? I only got a ride once on the Ailsa, when it served Service 31 for a brief period of time. Though it was fast, I kinda like the engine sound better... Very Happy

Another favourite of the ol' skool buses is the Scania BR112DH. One of the quietest double-deckers around. And boy was it fast!

Seems that you found many photos of old buses. Did you come across any photos of the SBS Renault PR100.2 demonstrator (SBS30P)? There was a photo posted by someone else but as the original photo was very small, the photo wasn't very clear.
