Questions on MK3

Before service 9 was converted to full air-con, this service used a lot of non air-con buses. (Other services also used this type of non air-con buses, in which the last few back rows of seats are lower than the front and middle rows)

1. Are these buses known as Volvo B10M MK3?

2. What are the rego range of these buses?

I am asking this because I don't see any non air-con MK3 buses on the database of S'pore Buses discussion board.

Next, did SBST bought in any air-con MK2 buses?

Hi,

No, thoses buses are DM-bodied Mark 2 B10Ms. There aren't any non-aircon Mark 3s in Singapore and there aren't any original aircon Mark 2s in Singapore. These Mark 2s seen on Service 9 has a staggered regos and are registered together with the WA-bodied sisters.

From my SBH, the regos for these buses are SBS 1696L - SBS1895D. A total of 200 buses was introduced since 1988 and the pioneers should leave the fleet by next year.

Those NAC DM MK2 have exactly the same seating arrangement as those OAC MK3 (SBS582 to SBS881), the rows of seats in the middle is higher than other rows of seats, so I think that come the confusion.

accodring to seom svc 9 used mark2s WA and DM.

that means service 9 used 1741--1750 before
and then later got hold of 1760--1770 to use also

I have never seen service 9 used MK2 WA before, whether it's NAC or CAC.

I've only seen 1696L operating on Service 9 for ard 2 months.. as recent as last month.

Oddly enough I still remember taking and seeing Volvo B57s, DM-bodied NAC B10M Mk IIs on Sv. 9 back in early 1990s when I was still a kid.

That's right. Service 9 has lotsa Volvo B10M Mk II DM NAC. However, I had never seen it having Volvo B57.

The last row of seats for Mk2 is "hollow" i.e.: no back engine and i can swing my feet back and forth..

Chotomatte Kudasai! Both Mk 2 and Mk 3 Buses are mid-engine B10 Buses (B10M). Therefore, their engines are placed in the middle, instead of the back.

mark 2 and mark3 are mid engine
i would like to point out the following:

volov B10M the M stands for mid engine..so confirm mid engine buses.

have noticed that u have to climb 2 huge steps just to get onto the deck of mark 2 and 3?

if u sit near the front above this hatch, you cna enjoy the Volvo engine sounds. i remember my first mark 2 ride on sbs1771 of svc 90. i was so young. any how i sat above the engine hatch and i found the sound quite near the B57 sound.
