Upper East Coast Terminal

Have anyone been there? (Beside Bedok Camp, at junction of Upp East Coast Rd & Kew Dr) Currently only got svc 13 & 853, do you think more services should terminate there, such as svc 155? (This terminal has capacity for up to 6 services)

Yap i saw the terminal , pretty small . I am not very sure whether any other services are planned to add to that area .

Upper East Coast Terminal is actually a substitute to the former Marine Parade Terminal. Currently 16, 55, 76, 135, 155 loop along Siglap Rd and return, making the route longer, why not let these services make use of the new terminal.

Perhaps I may correct you Service 853 only service Upp East Coast Terminal on Sundays and Public Holidays, and Upp East Coast is rarely used by passengers. Yes, very modern, perhaps the nicest terminal around, but there are only 1 or 2 passengers alighting from Service 13, and the freq is very long.

I think the first sep SBST should do is do relocate one of the bus stops near there, either Bedok CAmp or Opp Kew Green, to right in front of the terminal, so that passengers transferring from Service 10 or 13 can change at the terminal to increase passenger traffic

There is a simple and logical reason to that. Firstly, many of the services are already quite long, or have high passenger traffic. Next, Upp East Coast is mainly Private estate, except for Temasek Sec, and only have 2 lanes. Hence, demand there is actually quite low, and services like 10 and 13 should be able to serve that sector adequately. Also, too many buses running on empty there would greatly increase noise and air pollution along that area and the residents would not like it. It is also a waste of resources.

I agree with your statements regarding the terminal . The demands are low and there are no need for more buses services .

Upper East Coast Terminal is a waste of taxpayer money. I would rather the old Marine Parade terminal be moved across the highway to terminate at East Coast Park, as Sv. 401 only operates on Sundays and public hoildays. Even so, it’s frequency isn’t that wonderful either.

Well, since the demand around Upp East Coast is low, the authority shouldn't build this terminal in the first place. Another good example of low demand is Tuas Terminal.

Also, I don't understand why Tibs let NR7 ply that area.

I think the authorities have to build TUas because they had no choice, unless they are to route back to the nearest interchange, Boon Lay, but Boon Lay is fast exploding already with buses and people sometimes. Tuas may seem deserted most of the times, but it serves as a resting place for the drivers and aging Leylands, and the factories near there do provide a lot of passenger traffic at certain times( at least when I took once, the DD was jammed to the door) It doesn't make sense to extend 182 to cover so much ground in Tuas

I agree with Charles on this. Correct me if I'm wrong, but on the site of the Marine PArade Ter, they are building Victoria School, which puts in near its senior, VJC. If you mean across the road, I would not supportr it cos it will be so damn polluted then ( the park)

Hoe Jyh, currently it is tiring enough for drivers to drive from their point of origin to Marine Parade Interchange, now they have to make a loop! Perhaps a decent interchange could be built somewhere convienient for shoppers at Parkway Parade, somewhere near the East Coast Park?

Yes, I agree with you, but if you look at the area around PP, it is all congested. It makes most sense to build an interchange at siglap RD. but VS would most certainly complain. If the buses go onto est coast park via Marine Parade Flyover, there is a bird sanctuary there and is too congested.

I think that building an interchange may be out of question, but I'm thinking of this: Ask LTA to be more hi- tech. Maybe they can consider something likeMarina Center Ter, and set aside half of the current road width for a place for buses to park, and a sound dividing wall to ensure VS won't complain, but there are reasons for why this may be rejected in the first place and deciding to torture those hapless drivers.

I have an idea. Perhaps they could consider making an underground air-con interchange, much like WRI, as the drivers whose buses terminate at Marine Parade have no more place to rest, a bit disadvantage to them.
