off_service SG Service 170 uses a large amount of buses compared to other services. Therefore, if a bus(es) needed to be repainted, they need to find replacement buses for the service. Driving service 170 is extremely stressful. THe service is packed and jams always happened at causeway.
Airbus330Captain SG Yes, there has been plans to use mark 4 strider buses on bus 170 but I guess that plan had been shelved and now using all Mark 3 Volvo buses .
SBS9818A SG FYI, Sv. 170 has 60 buses assigned to it at any one time, due to the loads and traffic conditions. Hao Rui has mentioned he saw 8 Sv. 170 buses arriving at Queen Street all at the same time! Shocking, right?
xian89 SG dun like to sit on Bus 170. It has a awful smell of those foriegn workers odour which make the bus stink like hell.

xin1jun2 SG it is said that 170 may be shortened to end at kranji there later this yr...perhaps we might see some other models of bus on 170 ZYX
oliver_yuen87 SG I dun think so.. it's a profitable service from Queens St. to JB. And Causeway Link will be operating buses from Kranji to JB also.. that'll be repetition already

off_service SG This is not the case. When service 67 was with SBST, Striders were used on them. I think probably the Strider buses (which Airbus330Captain mentioned about) might not be suitable for the endurance and the engine might be heated up.
off_service SG If service 170 is to be amended to the north, it will be direct competition with 4 TIBS services: 178* (from Kranji MRT to Woodlands Int via Woodlands Centre) 856* (from Woodlands Centre to Woodlands Int via Marsiling MRT) 960 (along Bugis area to Woodlands) 961 (along Bt Timah to Woodlands) * Depending which route SBS Transit will choose if this really happens
