Withdrawn of Service 85?

From the other posts in this forum, many of you think that service 85 will be withdrawn, I don't think SBST will do this.

Even though service 85 duplicate its route with NEL from Hougang station to Dhoby Ghaut station, but what happens if your boarding and alighting points are between 2 NEL stations? I think it is for this reason SBST decided to keep service 2 (duplicate with MRT from Bugis to Tanah Merah) instead of withdrawing it.

Also for the route of 85 from Orchard to HarbourFront, SBST will have to amend the route of service 65 to cover the route of service 85 if withdrawn. Then affected service 65 passengers will have to take service 14.

I think at most the route of service 85 will stay the same, be amended, integrate with other services but not withdrawn.

Very true , I agree with your thinking . I think most likely an intergration with another route is more like it or change of route is more likely .

That will be interesting when NE line starts .

well it is either 85, 111 or 147 that has to go. not all of them .

i thinking 865 (85) because the bus was introduced to sengkang to please the residents with a link to rochard. now that the MRT will give them a faster link to orchard. the bus service would lose its function.

at any rate i agree sbst will try to keep a bus service to provide inter MRT stations links.

I think that 147 will not be withdrawn, cos it passes by Hougang Ave 8 and Yio Chu Kang Rd (Serangoon North area) which are not served by the NEL.
