Anyone been to Hk and taken their buses? they rock! Do you think SBS should also have seats with headrests like HK? i think SBS’s express services are very stupid.. they only skip bus-stops with no pple or very few pple.. it is good that TIBS cpnvert 521 to 963.. HK express buses mean that they go by expressways.. for example, if TIBS service 190 is a HK service, it’ll be an express service/

There's this Bendy Bus on service 190, TIB 890 I think, that's the only bus in the whole fleet to have headrest. I think TIBS are trying out the feasibility of having head rest on seats in buses. But I think it failed.

HK volvo bus engines are EURO 4 !!! SBS’s volvo engines are only EURO 1 , we still have a lot of catching up to do , to match HK’s buses .

Hi Charles. This is true. I suppose Singaporeans are willing to pay more for better services. I think the current bus services is slight not value for money.

On another note for enviromental issue, SBST should have plans to reduce black smoke emission on Leyland Olympian Superbuses. The emission is terrible.

Yes, S’pore buses only have EURO 1 engines while the Transbus Enviro 500 in HK has EURO 4-compliant engine. Fang Sheng, TIB 890E is a Sv. 300 bus.

Smile Pardon me but if I'm not mistaken, the VSOs or Volvo Super Olympians Superbuses (the zero-step Superbus) is a Euro-2 compliant engined bus. That goes the same to the CNG bus right?

I’ve been on most buses in HK and I would say theirs are much better than SBS.. really, hands down. Maybe it be Leyland or Volvo.

singapore just mostly follows the hongkong buses.

for example hon gkon ghas the tridents since 1999
singapore got ours in 2001 jul

and the VSO in hong kong came out in 1999

Wasn't the Trident introduced in 1996 in Hong Kong? Anyway, Singapore had its first Volvo Super Olympian (SBS9888Y) on 19 September 1999, only a few months after its launch in Hong Kong. I understood that SBS had wanted to introduce the Tridents immediately after the SBS9888Y, but due to some problems with Dennis, its launch was delayed until 2001.

Well, the KMB's headrests are actually neckrests! It can't even rest a 160cm+ person's head! Instead, they make you sit upright and is pushing against your neck.

Of course the Citybus Trident coach ones are of a different story, much more comfortable.

At least in Singapore you all don't really choose for a AC or non-AC purposely due to the fares, but in HK, it really matters if it's an AC or non-AC. A non AC buses costs HK$10 while the AC can cost $14! But this is for KMB only as NWFB and Citybus are fully AC now.

Quite true. However, I am sure that bus companies are on their way to upgrade their buses gradually. Bascially, I feel that HK buses are much more advanced than us.

The best thing is that: their airport has no height limits for DDs, so they have nice DD airport express services, esp. those going on the Tsing Ma Bridge.

I think whoever designed it wanted to save space and did not take into consideration that bus companies might use double decks. Also, Hong Kong Airport has been using double decks as part of the bus services for a long time.
