definitely not recommended for first timers to MMORPGs, WoW wins
FF online by 1 simple thing, instances. Now you dun want 200+ horde
and 200+ alliance in MC fighting for the same mob that spawns once
a week?
People want to play, not getting killed every now and then by some
guy who spends 24hr in-game. And that is where WoW's beauty is,
everybody stands a equal chance even without all conditions being
ceteris paribus.
The reason why WoW is that popular is cause it is easy to pick up
and after that, it is purely friendship and the bonds you have to
your fellow WoW friends, guildmates etc that is sustaining your $25
monthly bill to Blizzard.
