To combat declining voter turnout among 20 to 40 year olds,
stand-up comedian Osamu Wakai has been hired to appear in TV,
radio, and print ads promoting Yamagata Prefecture's House Of
Councillors general election. Wakai has made numerous
television appearances in Japan with his act built around
impersonating Amuro Ray. The TV commercial can be seen near the
bottom of the election's homepage, featuring the promotion's
catchphrase: "Election, ikimaaaasu!!"
