Oh, are you in Oz?

There is a Prima Taste concept restaurant in Vancouver, but I don't live there (anymore) Crying or Very sad . However, there is one chain of grocery store here that carry some of its lines. But having introduced it to my friends, they sweep the shelves each time the stock comes in. And slow tortoise like me lose out. But fret not, I have the COMMERCIAL packs which can eat about 20. What I do is I freeze the gravy. Very Happy

But do you like it? Have you tried it? Wink

my aunt used to work for Prima... down at the flour mills near the WTC or it's called Harbourfront now Wink

never tried the stuff coz hey... being where i live, i can get the real thing Wink

Yeap, lucky you. I guess that's the difference lah huh? Over head, socializing is mainly at home whereby one family will cook and have guests over or it may be a potluck (which.....ahem.....so far, I never have one because I believe in having my guests come empty handed and not pressured to bring anything....my opinion only lah). Well, you live in Oz before so you know the style/culture.

When I was living in Sg, aiyoh, just go downstairs "de uu" char kway teow and all the hawkers delights.....oh boy, am I really hungry now.

Anyways, got to go now. Got a hair appointment. Will chat another time.

Nope. Laughing But I've eaten there during CNY when I went over.Though not the same as the real deal, their curry chicken and mee goreng comes as close as possible in Perth.

Oh I see but hey, not fair. We don't have mee goreng here. How come? Well, unless I hit the store too late. We find the curry chicken a bit like their laksa. Now I buy a different brand, also a product from S'pore. That one seem authentic. Smile

Nice to be holidaying down under eh, but during CNY is a bit hot and humid. No? Smile

IndoMee is one of my best friends.

& so is "Sang Min Wong" whose instant noodle was recently showcased @ Food Fest back Home, someone even took a picture of it and posted it up this forum.

Good for suntanning at Scarborough..but driving up to Jurien Bay was just too glaring..all the sunshine and the open outback.

What different brand did you try, littlestream?

For me, I like the laksa, chicken rice & curry chicken packs the best Smile Haven't tried the others though...

The brand in question is "Uncle Sun" distributed by Hong Siang. I find their curry chicken is better than Prima's. I also prefer Uncle Sun's nyonya seafood paste. It has an equivalent to my MIL's sambal shrimps/squids.

I found the products by chance at one certain grocery store last December. I used it during my Christmas dinner and my friends were all full of praises. Although it may be courtesy on their part, but I think it is good too. Of course I didn't disclose that it was the paste lah. They must have thought I actually grind all those rempah myself. (hee hee.......sneaky little devil, me) Laughing

When you are back in Sg in Dec, you may wish to purchase Prima's other products. You will like their mee rebus and mee siam. The mee siam gravy reminds me of those of my primary school days at the tuckshop. Mee siam for 15 cents. Smile

Boh claypot chicken rice here ley. Sad Sad I used to make my own but gradually, husband and son both said "not nice...." so that dish strike off my "can do" list. It seems my list is getting shorter. Either my culinary skills is deteriorating or their tastebuds have reach a different level. Razz
