March 11
Launch of Labrador Tunnels
Labrador Park
One of the strategic defence sites utilised by the British to
protect the harbours of Singapore, Labrador Park is well - known
for its historical relics from World War II. Two tunnels were
discovered at the park in 2001. To re - create the war - time
atmosphere, the two tunnels were preserved in their original state
as much as possible. Another new key feature at the park is a 6"
cannon that was uncovered at Beach Road in 2001. The National Parks
Board, together with Singapore Explorer Pte Ltd, will be launching
the tunnels and cannon at Labrador Park on 11 March 2005. More
details of the tunnels and cannon will be announced during the
launch.
Admission by invitation
