Agree with dragg.. i find that the kway teow whipped up by the Lao Fu Zi store in Old Airport Road Hawker Centre and the one in Marine Parade Hawker Centre are really more hype than anything else… certainly nothing to shout about.

frankly the food programmes and the papers are to be blamed.

it is common to see stalls with newspapers cuttings pasted at the front of stalls. many of these stalls serve mediocre food.

those food columnists must keep writing mah, so no more grade one stalls, grade two three four five all come out if not they go out of job.

The Malaysian version is not white in color but light brown as they don't add the sweet sauce. Furthermore, they don't put cockles in it but just egg, prawn, cuttlefish and some fish cakes. Taste very much better than our local version. The only local one I like is at Ghim Moh market. Very much better than the one at Marine Parade market. Prepare for a long queue.

7 years ago, I would say NUS Arts Canteen (the vendors retired after earning enough). Which also incidentally house the best Yong Tau Fu Laksa in the world (still operating and long queues everytime I visit)..
