"My buddy and I took a week vacation to So. Calif. Upon
returning, we found a very strange image on his countertop which
seemed to have no explanation. I grabbed my digital camera and
started shooting before anything was disturbed. It looked like an
alien landscape, with extreme detail, complexity, and appeared 3-D.
However, the image was flat and smooth like a decal.
Finally after much pondering, we noticed the Pepsi can was empty
but had never been opened. A pinhole must have developed, spraying
a thin stream of cola onto the side of a plastic container, and
then pooling up on the countertop. I think the detailed 3-D effect
happened when the sugar crystals dried with the liquid. It looked
so weird!"
