Five-year-old
boy married to puppy!

Jamshedpur: A five-year-old boy was on Monday married to a puppy to
ward off the evil eye on himself and family in tribal dominated
Kuluptanaga bustee in Saraikela-Kharswan district of
Jharkhand.
A woman tribal priest, Bonjh Gope, married Samir, son of Shanbabu
Mudiya and a puppy according to tribal rituals on the concluding
day of the three-day Maghe Parav, a tribal festival of the
region.
Home brewed beer and delicacies were served to guests, who had come
to have a darshan of the newly-wed couple, as many danced to drums
beats.
Mudiya told newsmen later that tribals believed that such marriages
would keep the boy, his family as well as the society at large away
from the evil eye. He claimed that altogether four such marriages
had taken place in the locality this year.
Contacted the RIT police said it had no knowledge of the marriage.
"We have never heard of such a case. We will have to seek legal
opinion before taking action."
