This mummified kappa was discovered at a winery in Imari City in
1953. Its body length is about 70cm.
A Kappa is a mythical Japanese demon which lurks near rivers and
lakes. Humans are part of it's omnivorous diet....
There are two ways of escaping a Kappa's jaws..
One way is to feed it cucumber, which it prefers over
humans..
The second is to bow to it. The kappa will always bow back,
spilling the magical liquid on the top of it's head, which gives it
supernatural powers...
