true christian growth is growth in the spirit. the christian
teaching on human is that he is a tripartite being: body, soul and
spirit
Body : Physical form (tangible)
Soul : Intelligence, character, emotions, will
(intangible)
Spirit : The invisible that can relate to the
spirit world (God or devil)
To nourish our spirit, we need to constantly feed it and cultivate
it. When we talk abt spiritual cultivation, christian DO NOT
practise meditations, yoga and other new age stuffs because such
occult exercise opens out spirits to demonic spirits
influences!
Instead, we feed it with spiritual food that is the Word of God
itself, through spending time meditating(thinking) on His word and
in prayer. We also need to starve to death those things that are
unhealthy for instance pornography, lust, greed and other sins that
prevent us from getting closer to Him. We also need to be in tune
with the Holy Spirit inorder that we can walk in the Spirit for
physical body do not allow us to get in touch with God, who Himself
is Spirit.
So, doing QT etc do help us to mature in spirit and grow in
likeness of Christ but we need to do it for the true purpose and
not for empty shows. Works alone cannot provide salvation as we
know that salvation is solely from Christ but these are some
actions we do so that our way of life is right before God and we
are not influenced by the world. In fact without
faith it is impossible to please Him! Hope that
helps....
