M1 has reported a potential security breach on its website and
has suspended pre-orders of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus while it
investigates.
It announced this on a Facebook post at about 7.30pm on
Monday.
“As a precaution to protect our customers’ personal information,
we will be temporarily suspending pre-orders while we urgently
investigate this issue,” the post read.
Reports said the telco suspended pre-orders after a hacker
had accessed its website by mistake, and reported the breach to the
company.
This comes at a time when Apple on Monday said it had received
record pre-orders for its new iPhone models, AFP reported.
The California tech giant said that some customers will have to
wait for the larger-screen versions of the smartphones.
Four million pre-orders
More than four million pre-orders were received in the 24 hours
after the new devices went on sale last Friday.
Sales are set to open at 8am local time on Friday (Sept 19) in
Singapore, the US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong,
Japan, Puerto Rico, and Britain.
Some 20 more countries will get the iPhone on Sept 26.
