The phone will switch to the next band, if the other band is
weaker or not available, dependent on operator settings. Singapore
telcos use mainly gsm 900/1800, and that covers dual band. In the
states, they also use 850mhz, that’s the triband, in japan, they
use wcdma/3G, which is UMTS, that’s the
quadband.
