it is as good as having said nothing. if you go see doctor, doctor help you, not god. if u study hard for exams, you are helping yourself, not god. if you go see the doctor and doctor say he cant help you, you think god will help you? if that is the case, why millions of people died of cancer and other terrible diseases, of which there are christians. you mean to say god didnt help those christians who died of cancer?

A notion of having a ''god'' i feel means giving mental strength to a person. Having the though of a supernatural being helping you. Thus having the mental strength to fight illness. Even with the help of medicine, if the person has no will to live or lacks the mental strength to continue to fight the war will be pointless.

also not everyone is a god believer. so doesnt believe in god, no reason to live anymore? no what. there are so many things I still have yet accomplish and do. I still have to travel the world.

I dont know whats going through people's minds, but my explanation can be one of the possible reasons. Obviously Like the article, the guy abuse it too much without even going to the hospital to seek help, then he shall pay the price.

this guy is plain nuts and stupid. not only superstitious, but ignorant. as the saying goes, stupidity and lack of intelligence knows no bounds.

the brain and mind power is well documented. the so called miracle is not miracle after all, due to placebo effect. if you are happy with a positive attitude, chances of recovery is faster than one who is pessmistic and negative isnt it. all this no need religion to explain.

I also pity the doctor credentials and experiences, studied so hard to be a doctor, with a stroke of a brush, the doctor efforts in treating the patient has been brushed off conveniently with an explanation of god. in that case, why bother researching and improving medicine because all being attributed to the work of god and not the profession and the untold hard work being put to research.

we also have to understand that relying on power of supernatural to cure the current problem, may not bring about the same effect the next time we use it again

what if the next time it doesn't bring any help? shall we discredit the power of supernatural again?

this is the reason why rooney is pointing out the both sides of a coin, the bad and good side in believing some g_d / supreme being (not necessarily any particular religion)

this may solve only a current problem. we have to think about other side effects on the long run

your story is good in motivating people. but if we think deeper, if you substitute "I / Myself" in the place of "G _ d" , you will end up with the same thing

A US jury has found a man guilty of killing his sick 11-year-old daughter by praying for her recovery rather than seeking medical care.

The man, Dale Neumann, told a court in the state of Wisconsin he believed God could heal his daughter.
She died of a treatable disease - undiagnosed diabetes - at home in rural Wisconsin in March last year, as people surrounded her and prayed.
Neumann's wife, Leilani Neumann, was convicted earlier this year.
The couple, who were both convicted of second-degree reckless homicide, face up to 25 years in prison when they are sentenced in October.
A lawyer representing Dale Neumann said he would appeal.

'Faith healing'

During the trial, medical experts told the court that Neumann's daughter could have survived if she had received treatment, including insulin and fluids, before she stopped breathing.
On Thursday Neumann, who is 47 and studied in the past to be a Pentecostal minister, said he thought God would heal his daughter.
"If I go to the doctor, I am putting the doctor before God," he said. "I am not believing what he said he would do."
He also said he thought his daughter had had flu or a fever, and that he had not realised how ill she was.
Neumann's lawyer said he had been convinced that his "faith healing" was working, and that he had committed no crime.
The prosecution argued that Neumann had minimised his daughter's illness and that he had allowed her to die as a selfish act of faith.
They said the girl should have been taken to hospital because she was unable to walk, talk, eat or drink.
Instead, an ambulance was only called once the girl had stopped breathing

That is the problem when people believe God can heal and put aside sensibility. If the sickness is of spiritual nature, I believe God can heal.

I am pissed off by christian who point fingers at me and said I should not go see doctor when I am sick , instead I should pray and ask Jesus to heal me. No brain!

I dont think you understood my post, maybe i explained it poorly. What i wanted to say mainly is, yes it is placebo effect when you are thinking a supernatural being is helping you. I dint say it really exist, but the focus is on the strength.
