because they read what they want to read... taking phrases and
bits and pieces from the bible and interpret them the way they want
to... to rationalise their own behaviour...
if they had taken the whole context correctly, where each line
came from and what they were supposed to mean, they'd be
wrong...
just like the "fundamentalists" (read as "fanatics") in the
various religions... since when was murder condoned? since when was
terrorism in the holy scriptures of whichever religion they profess
to be "fighting for"?
they were all for personal gain and political gain...
the whole premise of the bible is that God is love... God loves
us and wants to be with us even when we are flawed and have
sinned... and He loves us so much that instead of abandoning the
poor sinners, He sent His son to suffer and die for us so that we
have a route to salvation...
i'm sure each religion has their own routes to salvation, and
most have a "code of conduct"
and i don't think any have a code of conduct which says they
have to go out there and sow discord with others, to hate others,
and to condemn others...
sure as heck isn't in the bible coz the only one who can judge
the spirituality of each person is not another person, but
God...
