Then rewind and delete the part and leave it as reading one book. What is so confusing.U want people believe, pray for them. Show good example and leave...

Actually if God were really spiteful and cruel in the old testament he wouldn't even warn people to repent of their wickedness but kill them instantly. The reason why he became even more merciful in the new testament is because he himself died on the cross, the payment of all the sins.

Ever wonder why its always about the Jews? If god had made man equal, why did he discriminate against other peoples? It seems to me that this god is but a racist Jewish myth, an Aryan-equivalent ideology for them.

Larryteo SG

When Jews are said to be ''Chosen people'', it does not mean that they are superior to the Asians or Americans. You see that they are punished in the holocaust right?

What is this uniqueness? Historically, it goes back to Abraham. Abraham lived in a world steeped in idolatry, which he concluded was contradicted by the reality of design in nature. So Abraham came to a belief in G-d, and took upon himself the mission of teaching others of the monotheistic ideal. Abraham was even willing to suffer persecution for his beliefs. After years of enormous effort, dedication and a willingness to accept the responsibility to be G-d's representative in this world, G-d chose Abraham and his descendents to be the teachers of this monotheistic message.

In other words it is not so much that G-d chose the Jews; it is more accurate that the Jews (through Abraham) chose G-d.
Chosenness was not part of G-d's "original plan." Initially all of humanity was to serve the role of G-d's messengers, but after the fall of Adam, humanity lost that privilege, and it was open for grabs. Only Abraham chose to take the mantle. If others would have (and they were offered the choice), they too would have joined in this special covenant which was sealed upon the giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai.

If a privilege is offered to everyone willing to pay the necessary price, nobody can protest that those willing to make the extra effort are being shown favoritism. For example: It is reasonable that an employee who agrees to work overtime, attend training seminars, and manage special projects, should be entitled to a performance bonus -- particularly if each employee was given the same opportunity.
The essence of being chosen means responsibility. It is a responsibility to change the world -- not by converting everyone to Judaism, but by living as a model community upheld by ethics, morals and beliefs of one God. In that way, we can influence the rest of mankind, a "light unto the nations" (Isaiah 42:6).

How and why was Abraham, if he even existed, get chosen? Maybe god disliked the Indians the Chinese? Apparently his willingness to murder his son makes him special? Such teachings only justify Jewish actions such as the invasion of Palestinian land, because they think its "God-given"? The Old Testament would have been a great tool to propagate the cause of Jewish superiority and the invasion of the lands of others. Religion is not the only way a race seeks to justify its own superiority and actions, even countries place themselves above others. China means centre of the universe. Thus I think that it remains nothing but a propaganda and political tool which has no basis in the modern 21st century

Larryteo SG

God was trying to test Abraham's faith. The willingness to murder his son for God shows that Abraham is a faithful person to God. Obviously because of that, he will get chosen as God's person. BTW, if the Jews were really the ones who invented God, the God would probably be like those Greek and Roman Pagan Gods, and many other Gods from many religions. The simillarity of man's ideas has proven likewise, if the Judeo-christian God is really invented and faked, then it would probably be a God with human-like character, and there should also be many Gods instead of just one. If it were really but a propaganda, I am not too sure about that. However, since Israel's becoming of a nation in the bible has been prophecised more than 2000 years ago, and it has been said that one generation after independence the wars and tribulation shall occur, we will know if the bible is true to its word or not very soon, in the next 10-40years.

is this your explanation or interpretation? does god have any opinion on this?

If you are going to be sarcastic and insulting, I suggest you don't even post at all since it only takes up space and crowds everything up.

Larryteo SG

Actually I suggest Dadeadman to contact some ex-atheists who are now believers and let them share their experiences. Atheists are somehow stubborn, and get pissed off when you talk to them about believing, so they must have done some research before becoming a believer. Hence they are more experienced and you should ask them. LOL.

I have asked before on this and you and your friends here failed to reply to my question.

As I have mentioned, all have different replies and opinions to question/event. Bible said so and so, but has god any explanations on the things that happened?

dadeadman1337 SG

If god was omnipotent, he would have know Abraham's loyalty without any need to test it. In defence of the monotheism principal, I am given to believe that Zoroastrianism was the first monotheistic religion followed by the monotheistic practice of Pharaoh Akhenaten in Egypt, thus it is entirely possible that the Judeo-Christian god was faked.

Rooney9 SG

its really corny to attribute that just because some atheist converted to christianity, does it mean it is the truth and that god exists?

you got taoist converting to christianity or buddhists, or some buddhists converting to christianity and vice versa, its just their personal choices, that is all to it. you cant really read too much into it.

reservistsianz SG

where did you read this from the bible ? I thought one fine day god find abraham and talk with him and tat is the start.

So this is your theory that God exists? Or proof?

It doesn't seemed like reading the bible means truth. I mean, association based on a book is rather as thin as the argument that it spreads.

I supposed that you meant God was less merciful and only came to understanding of the trials faced by man after the death of Jesus?

Then wouldn't that mean God is not all-understanding afterall.

I don't understand the part on the human-like part. Are you assuming that there is any similarity between so-called Pagan Gods and Humanity and absolute zero similarity between God and man? On what basis are you assuming, since it seemed to be that God was angry, jealous, unforgiving, merciless, and takes time to achieve understanding on the trials of man? Say like some thousand years later?

i find tat god want people to believe in him (dangle the heaven carrot for people to believe, threathen hell for just not believing) and all the time show zero evidence for us to believe him and expect us to just blindly believe because a book says so. He is supposed to be omni potent isn't it ?Why does he hate people who like to question and don't follow a book blindly ? If we choose to believe a book, we deserve to go to heaven ? If we choose not to believe, we deserve to go to hell ? Wat characteristic is he actually rewarding ?

If it is just an organisation tat tries to pull in as many people as possible, then I can understand the rationale of forcing people to just blindly believe a book. If it is supposed to be benovelent god ,yet do not reward benevolence, and focus more on blind obedience, then it doesn't make sense...

Nelstar SG

Experience with His Holiness? Christians are also somehow stubborn, and get pissed off when you tell them that you don't believe and they start cursing you will go to hell. So they must have done some research before becoming a Christian. Hence, they are more experienced with the "if you don't believe in his Holiness, and you should go to Hell. LOL

Well said, I share the same sentiments. It is extreme. Something we all must know about Christianity. When the gospel is presented to non believers to make decision to accept it, they talk about sins will be forgiven, Jesus had paid the wages for sins when he died on the cross. Believe then go heaven. What they never tell people is that not every Christian will go heaven. IN the new testament, it is stated that Jesus said not all who called him Lord Lord will enter the kingdom of heaven, only those who repent and do the will of God.

They are so tricky, they trick people by leaving out that part that not all christians will go heaven. They are like dishonest salesmen.

Any way, God and the bible are overstated. God giving empty promises.

Fantagf SG

Christians are not to doubt god, to doubt is a sin. They are told to be childlike, not to use intellectual when dealing with God , in relationship with god. All these are to allow them to brainwash.

Dont forget, Bible was drawn out from Constantine and not exactly complete.

I can understand your skepticism.

But to say he never showed himself, seriously, ye weak of faith, and u demand God to show himself. lol.. he aint your bitch man. Dont forget that.

Even when he has shown the miracles, after few years , people still turned away.

Personally, i have my own skepticsm as it is an incomplete book and some maybe lost forever. But i believe in the message. How hard is it for you to understand that ? Have u even read the entire book ? Do u understand its teachings ? If not, how can u be so quick to judge ? If u have honestly finished the entire book, and came to this conclusion, then so be it.

Cruelty for smallest of reasons ? How about the other times when he showed his love ? After all, what do we know of an omnipotent being and why he does the things ? His servants one small mistake was punished, maybe because he showed him so much and his that little lack of faith was the reason of the punishment. Like i said, no read, u no understand. Simple.

Wow, the badz is showing God's love ! nobody consider god is bitch man. Wow Wow!!!

Don't blame constantine! hahahahha! Bible so claimed that nothing is impossible with God then God can always put things right so christians will not conveniently push blame to Constantine. Poor, Constantine - he is used as a scapegoat!

Christian always say god give choice, so people practise choice by turning away is not wrong since god gives choice.
