i think we are talking about two different perspective here
one is a faith focusing on teachings of an enlightened being,
where he would like his followers to study, practise and find their
own path to enlightenment, where he doesnt really care for his
physical appearance or existence
where the other is a worship of someone whose existence has
always been questionable
yes the slave will never obtained salvation by himself/herself.
he/she needs to accept Jesus for ticket to entry to heaven. if
people like osama bin laden can go to heaven cos of that, then what
sort of heaven and god is that, where evil people like him
committed so much atrocities can go to heaven when they die.
