One of the reasons why forum discussions can go horribly wrong is when we cant tell when the poster is using sarcasm and when he isnt... ESPECIALLY when it comes to religion...

I think the phrase : "And i'm living in a fairy tale" is meant to humor Automator and not as a direct statement .. Correct me if i'm wrong, cos i do love to give people the benefit of the doubt... =D

I hope you're not christian because otherwise, you just kicked your own religion in the ass. "im living in a fairy tale and i love it" is one of the best anti-christian arguments where christianity is depicted as nonsense which only thrives because the dumb masses "love it". Kinda like Pokemon. Or McDonalds.

Probably he needs to hit the rock bottom to be realistic, down to earth.

I have met christians who are down to earth and that is encouraging but unfortunately christians like that are hard to come by.

I think many of us have gone through too much of life to have faith in God to turn all things for our good.

I do not know the context of the pastor, who said it and why, but if i were to make a guess, it was aimed at christians telling people they would not make it cos they have not followed the "right methods".. By placing themselves higher than the others who have failed in some areas, they are doing no service to the Kingdom.

God says " I will be their God, and they shall be My people!"

If you cannot rely on God to make ALL things good, then He is God for what?

Dont even use the phrase "God helps those who helps themselves" since Isaiah 25:4 declares, "For You have been a defense for the helpless, a defense for the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shade from the heat..."

God helps those who cannot help themselves... a struggling man will cause both rescuer and victim to drown... Let go, and Let God...

Haha.. he was saying that IF Christianity is a fairy tale, he would rather be living in a fairy tale than outside.. But since its not a fairy tale, deal with it!

Of course, i might appear to be putting words into his mouth, but all this is simply my interpretation of the situation... If ever I am wrong, do correct me.. If it looks like i'm helping him get out of a sticky situation, then so be it.. i dont mind really..

mm wrong answer. You're being sarcastic about the 'fairy tale' part, which is exactly what i expected. Your argument against the 'fairytale' label is that your 'life is so much better'. This justification for christianity with "life is so much better" is exactly what im pointing out. Masses taken in by the whole "life is good" notion.

Thats what im pointing out. justifying christianity with "i'd rather do it because it makes me feel good".

Is that a "life is good" notion? Jesus seems to be in favor of it.. Lets put aside fairy tale for now, since we have determined that christianity is NOT a fairy tale, but a relationship with God...

I wouldnt use the word "taken in", since you normally use that word for something that doesnt come out with results to show.. You can be taken in with Ponzi schemes, MLMs, or some crafty deals, but not the Word of Christ..

Now, I dont follow Christ cos i feel good, but because it WORKS... Prayer works! Tithing Works! Fellowship Works! Even debating on a forum ... it Works!!

We dont press the "on" switch on a computer to feel good, but because it works.. feeling good is just a side effect or a "fruit", a end result, not a motivation...
