.....to indulge you..the 6 days of creation is not literal 24hours per day as we know it..each of the 6 days is really a period of unknown time..in the bible itself when it was said the temple of jerusalem was to be rebuilt in so and so number of days..it wasnt literal 24hours too..so in the same light..creation is not done in 6 literal days but 6 periods of time which will then justify the age of the niverse and the age of earth and such as according to science...

thats the thing. if god is so powerful, why not god will the earth appear in an instant. you see my point?

bible said 6 days..and most prob you will say if it says 6 days then it must be 6 literal days and not according to what i just explained..many things in the bible are symbolic..i did not come up with the explaination of days can refer to a period of time..the bible itself did..

yes yes..got your point...while we are at it..why not ask can God create something so heavy that he cannot lift it right??

again like i said..what difference does it make to create in 6 days or 6gazillion years??the point is..we are still able to debate our arse off here and now how long it take to create..we will still have nature to admire be it 6 days or 6 "days"...personally i feel its more fruitful to focus on something more fruitful but of course, im willing to keep you company to talk about 6 days.. =)

But my request is, could someone give me rock solid proof that the old [not young] earth theory [not law] is absolutely true? could someone give me the proof of methods used in obtaining the dates of how old fossils are absolutely true?

In discussiong about methodology and order, i first choose to believe that the Bible is true and neverchanging, and continue in reasoning and science as well. But some will believe in scientific theory to be true and neverchanging, then say that Bible is false.

I would say that, as fallen man, my understanding is yet full and my comprehension of the matter lacking. Thanks to all, i would continue in understanding it, but i will do it with the believe and faith and foundation that the Bible is the Truth.

yes thats the contradiction isnt it. ask god to create something he cant lift and if he can lift, he is not powerful.

how can you say its not a big difference dude. 6 days and 6 million or billion years is a huge difference. that means the creation of 6 days is a myth, proven by science, period.

I am wondering why are you defending the indefensible inconsistencies and contradictions.

dear don..carbon dating can be off..but not pure nonsense..science is in lieu with the bible..but the bible isnt a science text book..6 literal days will contradict both the bible as with science..in fact bible first mentioned that the earth is round..and scientific laws showed how precise everything is and cannot be a by product of chance..

so therefore..look at our nature..look at the textbooks..and look in the bible..and you will see all compliement each other..just be careful of human lies..

Well, Einstein has already proved with his theories that Time is not a constant. Ie. it can slow down and speed up depending on circumstances.

Maybe one day in heaven is equivalent to a thousand years on earth, so who knows?

One can't just discredit the bible based on carbon dating, which may be flawed also. (By the way, I am not a anti-science person. I am studying in the Faculty of Science at NUS lol)

all god religions are talking about a creator ie whether one god or many god, it doesnt matter. In India alone, there are 300 plus god religions alone. every religion would surely preaches their religion is the one and only religion that is true.

It takes away human endevour. look how far mankind has progresse in leaps and bounds with science and technology. frankly speaking what has bible or god reveal other than say that god is almighty and creator of all things.
