Guys, if you encounter a snake, what should you do?

You should freeze or back away slowly right?

Do you know what Moses did?

He fled!

Exodus 4:

² Then the LORD said to him, "What is that in your hand?"
"A staff," he replied.

³ The LORD said, "Throw it on the ground."
Moses threw it on the ground and it became a snake, and he ran from it.

Wah leow .. must tell our kids .. bible not teaching the correct thing leh.

Seriously, unless he has never seen a snake before, the only logical thing is to keep calm, not run away.

If kids read it like that, they'd think the way to escape is to run away as quickly as possible.

No doubt about that. So should we take the bible literally? Or only just the first 5 books?

I can see there's much wisdom inside Judaism, after all, Jews are some of the most skeptical people around, not to mention some of the most shrewdest. Cultivated by the revelation of GOD to them as His chosen nation. Both of you are obviously not Jews, how do you ensure you certainly have a place in the world to come?

Erm, are we still on the topic of the snake?

Obviously not. juz not keen on starting a new thread. Or should i obey forum protocol and let the 2 of u continue talking about the snake? =)

But it can act as a followup discussion. How literal are we to take the bible?

Abraham and Issac are not "Jews". They are not B'nai Yisreal. So how? Abraham and Issac don't have a place in the world to come?

Asking a question to answer another question, very Jewish indeed. Reminds one of what JC (Jesus Christ) did, when the Pharisees asked him if they should pay taxes.

Abraham isnt a Jew cuz the term hasnt existed yet. He believed in GOD.

actually it reminds me of 古龙's story writing. his characters always like to answer questions with questions.

Bandit: "Where did you come from?"

Hero: "Where do you think I came from?"

hahaha.

actually i think that it's not saying anything additional or hinting at any lessons. it's just that moses ran away from the snake.

In a building near you, please call the police.

In your home, please call the SPCA or the zoo.

you are a failure... like some, you just want to misquote some verses and try to mislead the public..

read on ->

4 then the Lord said to him "reach out your hand and take it by the tail." So Moses reached out and took hold of the snake and it turned back into a staff in his hand.

By faith, Moses did what the Lord told him and liberated all the slaves from Egypt.

Please read in totality.

I did not mislead the public.

The bible is the one misleading the public. Imagine scores of sunday school kids thinking the proper way to zao4 from the snake is to run away as quickly as possible.

Mai siao siao .. matter of life and death ok. Not fun to encounter a cobra. Good luck to your life if you think you can run faster than its venomous spit.

malcom SG

Yes, I guess maybe Moses either think he can or he really can run faster than snake.
