Discussion is the exploration, investigation and examination of
a subject by an exchange of ideas through conversation, argument
and comment.
The objective is to have a better idea of the said subject and
assist in knowing determining the loopholes, knowing alternative
ideas and is probably the best means to find out the truth.
Hindering discussion is the same as censorship, and is in a way
preventing truth from being found. In another way, it is hiding the
truth.
It is pretty dissappointing tat a lot of threads have been closed
for no apparent reasons while the one left r pretty...
insignificant... such as the age of your bible. I find it as
interesting as discussing the age of my house or the TV in my
living room or the mirror in the bathroom.
A common reason why such threads r closed is simply because there
is "flaming". However in many cases none of it is present yet it is
still closed away. Another popular reason put forward is it is a
"christian"website. Because it is a christian website, tat is why
christian topics r discussed. Christian website doesn't means
christian must win all arguments, otherwise it is closed. Another
misconcept is christian has answered the queries and the others
have to keep mum after tat. Discussion is an exchange of ideas, and
I don't think just because it is a christian website then christian
must have the last word and decide when to stop or go.
Of course, moderators have the power to close any thread he deem
unsightly and of course, people can have the impressions tat it is
aristocratic, high handed and a blatant abuse of power. Does such
an action comes from a person tat has confidence in his beliefs ? I
don't see such blatant censorship in other religious forums or
topics dealing with science. Overall it gives a bad impression.
