Arminians (like Methodists 
) often ignore the next verse.
17For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the
world, but to save the world through him. (NIV)
Using the Arminian logic, God's sovereignity and will is
severely compromised because Jesus has failed in the mission -
obviously the world (read: everyone) is not saved through Him.
