dumbdumb! SG i heard there are some martial arts which christians are adviced not to practice due to spiritual background of the art itself even yoga are not adviced to be practiced
Chin Eng SG most (if not all) martial arts have their origin in mysticism and spiritualism. Superficially, the practice of martial art is good for the body, but once the practice is deepen there is always a concern about conflicting theological values.
pwnz0r SG Typically the average practitioner will have little opportunity to delve that deep into the art.
ndmmxiaomayi SG I rarely see Singaporeans delving anything deeper than physical learning. No doubt when one reaches a certain stage, one has to learn stuffs related to the art (theories, mind and religion). It will cause conflict for the different religions...
Chin Eng SG I totally agree with the above statements.... which is why I never said that everyone learning martial arts are wrong, I only said that there will be a concern if a deeper understanding is needed. The typical Tae Kwon Do taught by the SAF is quite safe lah.
Icemoon SG I am practising shi3 tu2 shen2 gong1. that day in a cave in Israel, someone found a scroll depicting 12 Jewish men in 12 different fighting positions .. awesome. also found was a scroll on qinggong .. said to be invented by Jesus Christ himself. if you remember .. there was once in the gospel .. Jesus Christ was trapped in a house which was surrounded by a crowd. Then somehow he could escape .. the text describes his movement as pretty graceful.
dumbdumb! SG sounds like a script from a stephen chow show hahaha.. but i very keen in learning leh..
davidche SG yes... take yoga for example. Some poses and actions are based on their beliefs and religious theories.
sillyme SG not condom But hor, got verse on this one Ephesians 6:10-18 Put on the whole armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. - Ephesians 6:11
Herzog_Zwei SG By the time you put on any armour in a real life situation, spiritual or otherwise, you are dead.
