Oh... I remember whenever I went to China as a kid, I'd eat that da4 zha2 xie4 almost every place with seafood.. with vinegar and garlic or something.. it tastes really good! and the egg waaaaaaah. niceeeeeee.

the pincers actually have the worst flesh.. not tender... i like the flesh in the body and the smaller legs Smile

vinegar crabs are just pickled in black sauce and vinegar Smile eaten raw... nuts.. starting to salivate.. have not eaten for over 20 years! Razz

You know, along Joo Chiat Road there is a Bai Xian Crab Restaurant selling a wide variety of crab dishes. I mean, the way they cook the crab.. They've got stuff like chilli crab, chilled crab, black pepper crab, alot of different kinds lar can't remember. I think it's not bad, the price is quite cheap too. If you all pass by Joo Chiat Road can go and take a look... It's near to the Hotel 81 on the stretch closer to Katong Mall. Smile

to me, there is only one way to eat crab... you steam it... Smile

only then do you taste the sweetness of the crabs... without the chilli and pepper and whatever overwhelming it.. most singaporeans overwhelm their food with strong flavours and they don't really taste the subtle flavours of their food..

and nuts.. hairy crabs can be gotten because of the high value.. but looking in vain for the past 2 decades for places that sell the vinegar crabs...

Sometimes I can't take steamed crab. Eating certain shelled seafood that's not cooked 'properly' will make me feel very nauseous.. Neutral
