I guess I am your old fogey from Barker, depending on how you
see it.
I spent 10 years there, from the days in Canning Rise till we
shifted over, and in my opinion, the religious theme of education
there did shape a part of my values and principles. However, I
wasn't one for organised set-ups for religion, and still am not
today, although I believe in God and His will in my life.
However, I've also seen pride in their alma mater turn people into
insufferable stuck ups and lazy bums who think they can get a free
ride on the name of the school.
From what I know back then, the religious services are not
compulsory and if you are not comfortable because you practise
another religion, you could always sound out and opt out of it.
Religion is not about enforced participation, but encouragement
through living examples around us.
