I believe the concept of Karma applies across board, not just to Buddhists. It is like the Christian belief that God will punish the sinner if he doesn't repent from his folly.

Hence, I do not seek to hurt anyone deliberately as I will suffer divine retribution.

Back to topic, those who stop gay couples from marrying their true love are even greater sinners than those who are into gay sex. Encroaching on others' free will is a big no-no.
