Several-time-winner of different competitions for gays, Brother Amorsolo Tadas acted womanly most of his life. Popularly known as the lovely Amor, he then existed in a world where an endless parade of physical beauty takes place. Dressing himself in beaded gowns matched with paint all over his face, he wanted to change what nature ought to be. He desired to be a lady.

Kaanib.Net: What are the major changes you underwent as brethren?

Amor: First is on how I dress myself. My routine also changed altogether. I no longer live in the world and of illusion. I even learned to accept and respect myself. I am now able to use my capabilities with the help of the ALMIGHTY LORD. Before, I wanted to achieve many things. I always aim for the best. I desired to reach the pinnacle of success to be always on top no matter what. But it has many downfalls. I just wanted to prove to everybody that I can do it as a gay person. I wanted to prove that I can overshadow the real male and female. I imagined that gays are man and woman combined so they are of two persons causing them to be stronger. I refuse to believe that we are not above normal. But now it is different. All the things I do are of God.

Kaanib.Net: How do you comment on people who talk of the sudden changes in you?

Amor: I may not be beautiful for them anymore. But I know I am beautiful to the eyes of the ALMIGHTY LORD.

Amor: He is the preacher who is always ready to campaign for our welfare. He also explained to us that being a gay is not a sin. It is only the act that makes it a sin.

And true to what he said, when the Bible need to be studies according to historical context. Prolly the Catholics were right when they wanted to retain Latin as the language of the Bible.

i wonder how many Christians here , being taught English and immersed in the local culture in Singapore, understand and appreciate the Bible from the meanings conveyed in Latin, the language its originally written in and appreciate the cultural standpoints of that time. Hmmm

correction,
the orginal language of used is mainly Aramic and probably Hebrew and Greek, not Latin.
The Latin translations is being adopted by the church in Rome (cause this is the language they are familiar with).
(can't imagine Moses, the OT prophets, David ...etc and Jesus speaking in Latin) Smile

Biblical Interpretation

Those of you who are Christian claim that the churches teaching same-sex attraction is based on the Bible. So they lift up and quote certain chapters and verses from the Bible associated with this issue and regard them as divine truth revealed by God. The Bible is a difficult book written by inspired men and women of faith believing that it was revealed to them. At one time they even claim that it was dictated by God and they just recorded it. Soon it was realised that it was not dictation but interpretation of what they believed to be Gods revelation.

Let us look at 1 Corinthians 6:9. The two Greek words malakoi and arsenokoitai have been translated differently at different times in different versions of the Bible in English. The King James Version in 1611 regarded them to mean those who are effeminate and abusers of themselves with mankind, which was close to the Greek meaning.

The original Revised Standard Version (the New Testament first appeared in 1946) was the first translation ever to use the word "homosexual. It translated the two words to mean homosexuals or sexual perverts. Then in 1978 the New International Version translated them as male prostitutes and homosexual offenders. It was the New Revised Version in 1989 which renders them as male prostitutes and sodomites. It must be noted that the word homosexual was not used in the earlier period. It was in 1180 that the word sodomy was first used. There is no such word as "sodomite" in the original languages (Ezekiel 16:49-50 describes the sin of Sodom as pride, gluttony, not caring for the poor and needy).

not really, most of the more common english translations we have currently is traslated from the original text (Aramic/Hebrew/Greek).
I have with me a Interlinar Bible (Hebrew/Greek + word to word translations with KJV along on the side).

Marriage was not celebrated by Christian wedding services in church worship until perhaps the ninth century. It was considered as a civil order and not a religious rite or church ceremony before that.

I cant say for Aramic/Hebrew/Greek to English translations on the Bible, but knowing how translations can seems off even from English to Mandarin and vice versa, i prefer reading the original text if i have to.

ok, in this case I will recommend the Interlinear Bible to you, pls remember to also get the Strong'd concordance, (btw, I am not trying to be funny, using the combination of this 2, will get you to the orginal text as one can go without first learning the languages of the orginal texts)

Heard of Rev Yap.... may have heard his sermon (but I can't recall).

Definitely a retired pastor, but not sure if he was ever a Bishop. If he was then it's probably at least 4 generations ago 'cos I can recall the names at least the last 2 Bishops prior to the current one.

I suppose what was quoted from Rev Yap was not the official Methodist stand. He, as with everyone else, is entitled to his opinion.

While most of the Methodist pastors are quite sound theologically, each pastor will have their own pet "loves". I know of at least one is who is rather "militant" in his stance and is constantly challenging the chief pastor of a church. I know of another who is always embracing "new ideas" so much so that sometimes that such ideas are implemented with considering the practicality of it....

.... on the articles here.... I have no comments. While my current stand remains that homosexuality is a sin, I have no issues with non-Christians practicing it. It remains to be seen if my stand will change subsequently....

What is pederasty? Isnt it very clear in Romans that it was homosexuality referred to in the text? I quote here:

Rom 1:26-27: 26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. 27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.

How can it not be homosexuality when men have sex with men & women have sex with women?

Heresy! When people like this bishop doubts that the bible is the divinely inspired word of God & NOT just interpretation of what they believed to be Gods revelation.
