yup, the Bible in it's physical form is just an ordinary
book.... apparently even Gandhi has read it.
To give an example of how a plan piece of information is twisted
(or spiritualised)..... churches attempting to follow Paul's
"tentmaking" ministry.... Paul was a tentmaking ie, he makes tents
and sells tents. To spiritualise it is to say that tentmaking is a
ministry that involves planting churches. In itself, planting
church is not only not wrong, but a worthwhile ministry, but to
spiritualise it using Paul's occupation as an example is totally
wrong.
Another example, the disciples met in cells therefore we should
also meet as cells. Again, the CG ministry is a worthwhile ministry
but to use the examples in Acts is also an attempt to spiritualise
a logistical and cultural behaviour, that being, there was no
formalised church at the times of the Apostles.
I will share with what I feel the Bible is: it is the word of God,
but I will not use it indiscriminately (which is why I almost never
quote scripture in EH). To use it as a weapon to whack each other
up is disrespectful to the intent of scripture. When I use it, I
always attempt to clarify any interpretative errors, or limitation
of the English language, or provide a background of the
passage...... and I will never ever say that my view is the right
view.
