Palm Sunday
A Christian festival whereby we remember Christ's triumphant entry
into Jerusalem welcomed by the crowd with palm branches. [/b]
It is sad that after the crowd welcomed our Lord to Jerusalem
crying: "Hosanna" [orignally means 'save now'... maybe thinking,
this is the Messiah who will save us from Roman oppressors] cried:
"Crucify HIm!!! Crucify Him!!!" a few days after this event.
I wonder why my former church [R.C.] celebrate this event. It was
celebrated by unbelievers. Just wondering.
Someone will argue: "Ah but it was the disciples who did this
act"
Lu 19:36 'And as He went, many spread their clothes on the
road.
37 "Then, as He was now drawing near the descent of the Mount of
Olives, the whole
multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a
loud voice for all the mighty works they had
seen,
Notice you can be a 'disciple', 'praise' God, 'hail' the Lord Jesus
but is still an unbeliever. A few days after these, these same
'disciples' cried: 'Crucify HIm!!! Crucify Him!!!'
Disciples does not necessarily mean a true and genuine believer in
Christ.
Joh 6:66 From that time many of His disciples went back and
walked with Him no more
Many "believed" on our Lord after seeing His miracles:
Joh 2:23 Now when He was in Jerusalem at the Passover, during the
feast, many believed in His name when they saw the signs
which He did.
24 But Jesus did not commit Himself to them, because He
knew all men,
Many follow Christ now for various other reasons. Many are lured to
accept Christ because they are promised by 'preachers' of the Word
that: "if you follow Christ, all your problems will be
gone.........your financial problems will be eradicated and etc."
Promising 'bread' that perishes. They are drawn to Christ for
various other reasons aside from the SIN issue.
A true believer, however, comes to Christ because of SIN. That it
offends God, sees Himself as helpless in atoning it, finds no other
fountain for the solution but Christ [the bread from heaven which
satisfies my emptiness of righteousness because of sin in
me.]
One could be a learner in what Christ has taught but still is
unsaved. Remember Judas was a 'learner'. A true disciple is one who
has trusted in Christ alone for salvation. One who has possessed
the TRUTH [Jesus] by placing his faith in Him alone for
salvation.
I pray that these words will not be found true in us:
2Ti 3:7 always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of
the truth.
