Eph 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that
not of yourselves; it is the gift of God......
Salvation is provided for by God in the person of His Son, the Lord
Jesus Christ. He died for the sins of sinners to provide salvation
available to anyone.
This is God's grace.
However, that salvation will not be yours unless you will respond
to it positively. And the positive response to that grace of
salvation is faith.
Epehsians 2:8 can be rendered: For by [God's] grace [in Christ
Jesus] you have been saved through [recieving that grace of
salvation] through faith [ on your part].
However, all of these: the grace of salvation and your 'ability' to
receive it through faith is a gift from God.
God not only provides salvation but also enables us to accept
it.
We are all totally depraved and so even faith and repentance is
God's gift and granting:
Php 1:29 For to you it has been granted on behalf
of Christ, not only to believe in
Him, but also to suffer for His sake,
2Ti 2:24 And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle
to all, able to teach, patient,
25 in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if
God perhaps will grant them
repentance, so that they may know the truth,
