What is the purpose of having EH?

I see ugly debates. Is it necessary to discuss christian doctrines, theology and issues here when both sides diverge?

if its just discuss theology and doctrines per se, its seriously alright

but when doctrines and theology touches on sensitive issues. how?

look at the debate over homosexuality in another topic

for me personally, its the evangelism aspect which is a major issue

u wouldnt want to question the other guy faith, but when his faith requires him to spread the gospels, and some overzealous guy went so far as to question other faiths or to discuss other faiths, then how?

it not only places non believers in conundrum, but also some christian frens of mine, who knew as a christian they have to spread the faith, but refuse to do so lest it touches on sensitive issues regarding other faiths...

From what I can see, both sides argue from their point on view. For Christians, obviously they will answer the issues biblically. As for non-christians, most likely they adopt the view point from society and the world ba.

Yeap, really true, but the issues i refer to is real world issues, such as homosexuality and evangelism to non believers. As for other issues such ranging from the authority of the Pope or on baptism, eucharists and such, i dont think non believers have a share in them.

no we as Christians only hold one citizenship. We live in the world but are not of the world.

If Christianity is a personal relationship with God.
Then the ideal kind of life will be wholly living a life acceptable onto God.
That's why when my father discussed with me about struggles in a christian walk. I'll always raise my eyebrow. Neutral

To make sure that your own life is walking right is more important than to take care of things which are not essential to your personal relationship with God.

When each man is made right.
The world will be right.

According to the Bible there are two citizenships; one is worldly and the other heavenly.

If we can wholly live a life acceptable onto God in this world, the bible will not talk about resisting temptation. God knows that the influence of the world is great but He has allowed us to be tested not beyond what we can stand.

Maybe few people can do that in this world. I don't think I'm one of them.

Having to have a personal walk with God and resisting temptation are two different emphasis. Depends on how you look at it ba. Notice that the epistles do not place their emphasis on sins and temptation more than having loving and godly attitudes.
It is not impossible.
Maybe we are not in the days of Acts. Too comfortable in this 21st century.

I agree with you it is not impossible but it is definitely not easy for many. Having a personal walk with God means having a God dependant life, right? But sometimes we may deviate from the walk and then God will call us back........
