Good Catholic Churches?

Hey I was wondering if anyone could help me out. Starting in August I'm going to be studying at the National University of Singapore and was wondering if anyone could reccomend some good Catholic Churches for me? I am from the United States and have never been to Singapore before, although last summer I did travel throughout Hong Kong and mainland China for two months.

I prefer masses that are traditional in that they use good vestments, incesnse, and even latin in the mass if possible. I also like churches that have frequent confession and Eucharistic adoration. Are there any Catholic Churches like this in Singapore? If you know of any please let me know.

hmmm there is a Catholic Student Society in NUS. Please feel free to go up to them and ask. If you need any help in contacting them, just pm me yr email or handphone number and i'll help u link up with them. I'm sure they'll recommend u a church to go to. Wink

The Catholic Society at NUS attends mass at Holy Cross in Clementi. I know it because this is my parish.

Is the Armenian Church in Singapore Armenian Catholic or is it Armenian Apostolic (Orthodox)? Does anyone know if there are any Eastern-Rite Catholic Churches in Singapore?

I was looking at this web page http://www.veritas.org.sg/cdir.php and to be honest I'm not a big fan of the architecture of the Churches in the West distict located around NUS.

I guess I might have to go to the SSPX for mass then. Does anyone here go to the SSPX mass on Killiney Rd?

I'm going to be taking History and Political Science classes and one Mandarin language course I believe. Here are the classes that I signed up for:

PSC - Asian & Islamic Political Thought
PSC - Corruption in East Asia
History - History of Southeast Asia
History - Minorities in South East Asia

And then I guess I'll just be placed in a Mandarin I class for beginners.

I think that is how it works as an exchange student from the USA. When I sent in my application, part of the application dealt with classes I wanted to take.

All I know its on Armenian Street, its small and it conducts masses, etc. The name St. something the Illumanti established the church. Details, no ideas.

Armenian Church is a different denomination from the Catholic. It's closer to the Eastern Orthodox.

I think the Armenian Mass is conducted only once a year, by an Armenian priest from overseas (I think it was ever reported on the tv). For the rest of the year, they attend Catholic Church, cuz the teachings are almost 100% similar.

yes, St. Gregory the Illuminator was the founder of Christianity in Armenia, so St. Gregory is a very common name for Armenian Churches. I have a lot of friends who are Armenian Catholics who live near me in the USA.

You are right in that there is an Armenian Orthodox Church, but there is also an Armenian Rite of the Catholic Church (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armenian_Catholic) They have Mass like the Armenian Orthodox, but they hold Catholic doctrines.

Yes I applied to NUS as non-Graudating Non-Exchange student. In the USA we would call this an "independent" exchange student.

Technically I won't know whether or not I've been accepted to NUS until late June, but everyone has told me that I should be accepted without any problems.
