Repent of your sins - i have seen and know enough christians who keep claiming they have accepted the word of GOD and are on their way to heaven, if not already there. many gave me the impression that they cant wait soon enough for judgement day to come. how many really are repentant?

Exactly. the hardest thing to do is to repent. Those Christians that you have seen are the reason why others here in the forum call Christian hypocrites.

Many so called "Christians" continue to lead life that are surrounded by smoking, drinking, cursing, swearing, lying, clubbing, pre-marital sex etc. We don't know if they are truely saved. Only when they meet God one day, and if God tells them "I do not know thee. Thy name is not in the Book of Life." then shall we know the truth.

One thing is for sure, that you know someone is truely saved is when he/she is changing their lives, turning away from their vices. Christians will never be sinless but Christians must sin less.

the number of seats in heaven are few. many who think that they are going to heaven just because they accept Jesus can confess their sins are wrong. this is because they are unrepentant. there are far too many such people around.

Christians are NOT superhumans who can suddenly mutate to state of sinlessness.
A dictionary definition for the word REPENTANCE is: "remorse for your past conduct". It is a recognition that whatever I have done in a given situation or a given behaviour is wrong.
As a Christian, I cannot claimed that I do not sin. I can only claim that I am working out my life and dealing with each sin as they come along. Some are easy to deal with and others are not. The attitude I have is that I WILL continue to RECOGNISE such sins as sins and will do my UTMOST best to deal with them. I win some I lose some, but I will continue to work on them.

There will always be people who claim to be Christians but their behaviour states otherwise. Who in this group actively attempt to live the Christian life and who does not, is not something that others CAN prove or question. For advice here is, why not focus on those who live their life in an exemplary manner and disregard those who do not. There will always be black sheep....

In OT with regards to the 10 commandment:
That was refering to people who God revealed Himself to.

In NT:
The only commandment is to love one's neighbour which encapsules all the 10 commandments from OT

Shocked Huh ?!?! Wat do u mean ? So is the 10 commandments wrong ? God had given the message to moses isn't it ? So christian should ignore the teachings in the OT completely ? How do u encapsulate "u can only believe in one god" and "remember the sabbath day and keep it holy" to loving your neighbour ?

'So anyone who breaks the least of these commandments, or teaches others to do so, will be called "least" in the kingdom of heaven.'

No, it does not contradict for within that same passage about the white throne judement there are some lines about people being judged by their conscinnce.

If you hear it said about one of the towns the LORD your God is giving you to live in 13 that wicked men have arisen among you and have led the people of their town astray, saying, "Let us go and worship other gods" (gods you have not known), 14 then you must inquire, probe and investigate it thoroughly. And if it is true and it has been proved that this detestable thing has been done among you, 15 you must certainly put to the sword all who live in that town. Destroy it completely, [a] both its people and its livestock. 16 Gather all the plunder of the town into the middle of the public square and completely burn the town and all its plunder as a whole burnt offering to the LORD your God. It is to remain a ruin forever, never to be rebuilt

yes. this leads to my one and only point. all believer or non-believer must understand that we can argue for an against christianity. but at the end of the day only GOD gets to decide who goes to heaven. we may think and act righteous in front of people but only GOD knows if we have really tried. Only GOD knows if we deserve our seat in heaven.

it is needless to criticise other religion. GOD is only a noun we use to address the CREATOR, which happens to be another noun. all religion points to one GOD. why keep arguing about who is real? Why keep arguing about what is right or wrong? HE is actually the same!!

You are right, to a point. Some people pretend to be righteous and engage in endless religious debate on the superiority of their faith. I really do not see the need to go that way. At the end of the day, only upon our death then can our belief can be proven. At that point, there is no one to verify that one is correct or wrong - except God himself, assuming He exist. For me, I have chosen to believe he exist, and what I believe, I believe to be true. That being the case, to me, then I will try very hard to lead my life worthy of that belief.

You know, I do not criticise other religion and if you had read my other posts, I HAVE NEVER CRITICISED other religion. The only group(s) of people I may be more vocal on are: people in my own faith that skew our (Christian) core beliefs to suit their personal agenda, and people (including Christians) who take potshots at other faiths. I do not even agree with people who whacks Catholics (BTW, I am not a Catholic). Very Happy

I brought up the 10 commandments because you made a refrence to the commandment of "Believing only in 1 God". This commandment was for Israel who God revealed Himself to. For Christians the same would apply.

The NT's commandment of loving one's neighbour encapsulates the OT in the sense, that if you follow the 10 commandments you are follwing Jesus's commandment to love one's neighbour and vice-versa. Take for example from the 10 commandment:
not to bear false witness against your neighbour.
By not bearing false witness you love your neighbour.

I highlighted the line that says "wicked men among you". These wicked men are from the tribes of Israel, therefore they have recived the commandment not to worship any God except the Lord Himself and yet they go against it. It is not so much about non-believers as it is about people to God revealed Himself to going against Him.

I will have to agree with Chin Eng again with his reply to this quote. However, as i made myself clear before, i am not a opportunist who takes potshot at Roman Catholics because i am in no position to judge the individuals. Nonetheless, the Vatican, the system, is something one ought to see the other side behind the curtains.

Ofcourse, the other issue that stupidissmart and myself share is the discussion about evolution, which we understand each other's stand and leave it as that.
