Basically, catholics believe that as long as you are a good person, you do good deeds you will still obtain eternal life.

As long as you are a good person and do good deeds and even if that freethinker does not follow the catholic way of life, anyone can go to heaven regardless of what religion you follow

rule of the game's pretty simple, you can't buy your way up to heaven, being good, or donating to charities or helping old ladies cross the road, won't get you a ticket to heaven. why? cause you don't know what is the passing mark.

how much good is good enough?

rule of the game: ticket to heaven is already bought for you, when Jesus, the son of God died for your sins, paid the price for all the banana nonsense you did. Only when you believe and receive this, then you pass.

what the hell is the catholic way of life? going to church? going to confession? if you don't believe in Jesus and only in Jesus, all that = bullshit

not that we shouldn't do good, but doing good is after salvation, salvation is salvation, good works are good works, different issues, and shouldn't be brought together.

good works don't give u salvation, only Jesus can, but good works comes and counts after salvation, because God will reward u for every little nice mushy thing you do for others when u go to heaven after u get knocked down by a bus or smth. kidding abt the knocked down part. Mr. Green

and my answer is no, because you can't "act" like a christian, you can't play church and hope to buy your way into heaven. you can't do anything to make yourself look good, including baptism. because the bible said, all our good works are like filthy rags to God, not that He looks down on our works, but because it isn't good enough.

in the bible, the people came to believe and receive Jesus into their lives, before baptism. you have to believe b4 u baptise, or else its no diff to taking a dip in the swimming pool

Only by believing in Jesus gets u to heaven, no other way. u can't be a believer, and be a freethinker, its like being, hot and cold at the same time, its impossible, you either believe, or you don't.
