urm this particular part has been discussed at length at Chit Chat, there is huge debate on freedom of speech vs moderation...

We must note, while yes we can choose not to click or read views, doesnt mean we can ignore religious sensitivity..we do not want people to view Christians as self righteous insensitive people wouldnt we?

And if we expound freedom of speech, why cant we click or view those opinions..? And agreeing to view doesnt mean agree not to differ in opinions or feel offended, especially if its involving other beliefs...

I beg to differ, Eternal Hope is a Christian forum and, by and large, the discussions are for
1. Christians to share among themselves - this unfortunately may have digressed to Protestants and RCs beating each other up. This I do not agree.
2. Non-believers coming in to ask questions, politely.

There are stuffs in the other forums that offend me but in no way would I go in and flame those folks as much as I disagree with them.

This, I agree. The difference between Larry and some other forumites is the tone of his notes, which I must say is mostly unconfrontational. He is one of the many non-Christians I am able to reply to and at the end of it, agree to disagree, and walk away happy.

I am all for religious sensitivity myself. I refrain from commenting on other religions as well as RCs. Whatever gripes I have with any religious organisation is internal - ie within the folds of Christianity, the malpractice of some supposedly spirit-filled church.

as for spreading the Gospel. It's a commandment given by God Himself. If you believe in God and He tells you to do something, will you not do it?
most of us are not certain how those that have not heard will be judged. but if one has listened and believes and follows, it's certain they go to heaven. that's the intention of those who spread the Gospel.

True, but to wat aim ? In the end it may cause them eternal misery by going to hell, will tat be helping these people or punishing them ? If by looking at your reply, it just meant tat spreading the gospel is good for the person who spread it, but bad for the people to receive it.

hmm.. the bible said that for those who never heard of the gospel, they will be judged according to their conscience.. their conscience will stand up against them, and all things will be revealed, then they will be judged according to their deeds

Taoist and buddhist never ask people to believe in them as a criteria to achieve nirvana or immortality. If u r good person u still get to have a chance to achieve nirvana or immortality. For christainity, u can be the most wicked person and u still have a higher chance of being "saved" than a non-believer

His point is, you can be the greatest evil but truly repent at the last minute and you're still saved.

as long as the repentance is real. There is a parable in the Bible where workers at the field are paid the same regardless of which point of the day they started working. Those who started in the morning were complaining about those who started later in the afternoon and were paid the same.

Point is, why should it matter? View salvation as a personal contract between God and one individual. Whether others think that it is fair or not is totally immaterial.

Of course, we can all argue and say that let's screw our life up and then repent at the last minute. The question of one's attitude during repentance can only be answered by the individual repenting. It is not for the rest of us to say.

In the end has the religion really taught people to commit good deeds ? Hitler believes in christ and believes killing the jews is doing him glory. If u ask him whether does he repent or not, he probably feel tat he do not need to, as he is doing these tasks for god. Many of u will say he is crazy, but he is truly not rejecting the mercy of god and his intentions, according to himself, is pure. In the end he goes to heaven ? How effective has tis teach people to commit good deeds ? In fact, it seems to teach people tat there is no real punishment for any autrocities u commited. Christainity seems they placed a higher priority on just "believing" than doing good deeds. IMO I do not see why believing (thought) is more important than actions tat god intend people to do (good deeds).

Of course, there is the issue of fairness too. As said before, no matter how much good deeds u have done, u still end up in hell when u r a non believer. U don't care if he is fair or place emphasis on people doing good deeds or not ? Doesn't tat shows he is not a perfect god as u guys have thought of him before ?

Believing in Christ is just as important as following his teachings. Otherwise, why did God come out with the 10 commandments? Also Christ did mention to obey the commandments.

But in the end, from revelation, it says tat peopel r judged whether do they believe in christ or not then after tat do they look at the actions he committed in his life. In other words if non believers commit no fault and lead a life helping others, they still had to go to hell. Isn't tat a sign tat belief in him has a much higher priority than following its teachings or 10 commandments ? it is not just as important, it it far more important.

just a question... wat is inline with the bible ? I mean there r christian, protestants, catholics, charismatic, methodists, presbysterians, anglican, Jehova witness, cults etc... So which one is the real teachings ? Will catholic and prebysterian be treated the same if it turned out tat catholics r more "true" ?

Not really .. salvation by faith is a Protestant position. Catholics emphasize very much of the 'works', the charity, to the point of being accused by Protestants as earning salvation by works.

Why emphasize on Believing in Christ? You have to believe in him in order to know his teachings and follow them.
