Roman Catholism

sliew SG

I am sad to see so many anti-catholism comments in this forum. May be the government should intervene under the religious harmony act.

My separated brothers and sisters do not forget that the Christian message is love and non judementall. How do you know you are right ? Do not judge but build on your own spiritual life rather than condemn. Remember the Lord's words that not everybody who shout Lord Lord or perform miracles will be saved but those who do His Will - Love.

Whether you like it or not, the Catholic Church is the early Church of Christ. The Church did not invent any new doctrines but contrary many have taken out her teachings passed down from the apostles. They interpret the Bible literally and only read what they want to see rather than the whole picture.

There are many things that we can learn from our separted brothers and sisters and so i hope you can learn from us too.

Watch the MOVIE Mother Theresa of Calcultta and you will see how a true Christian should behave.

Don't be too concerned abt the anti-catholism comments in this forum. It's just a small part of it. For every religion, there will always be detractors, not only Catholism. So just continue to be strong in yr faith. Laughing

Yup, sliew, just hold on to your faith.

Let neither defractors nor hypocrites make you stray away from your beliefs.

Btw, is the movie out on vcds?

laurence82 SG

oops, shld have posted here instead of posting at cross posted post, solly ef ai

My reply from another post

sliew, to add on to your post.

I am not sure how much of jurisdiction can the goverment have over internet content, especially with regards to using the religious harmony act.

Since its mabbe quite limited, some people use this chance to profess their hypocritical views on other religions here, which they couldnt do outside since they could be immediately be held under citizen arrest by people who are listening.

But it will be helpful to post some legal statutes here so that we can see how much of that act has been flouted here.

cheers

alamak, spell wrongly ah. It’s spelt as Catholicism.

ventin SG

firstly, i am not for ecumenism.
secondly, please make sure your church history is correct. The church that Jesus builds and how the Catholic church came about is a different church.
thirdly, when i do apply judgment, it is not my view point. It is what the Bible says. The Bible judge, i am just the messenger. if needed, i can always quote you the source.

brother...dun try this la

i did tt a few posts before....ppl will say u r jus being insensitive and bible bash other faiths....

Chin Eng SG

Shocked did I miss something here???? didn't understand ventin's message.
To address ventin's question, the church we see now is also very different from the one that Jesus's build, structurally.
Granted, the popes of the past may have committed lots of mistakes, church leaders nowadays are also not free from bungling either.

NeonTetra SG

can people dun follow Leaders and systems...like the error commited by early church..some follow Paul, some Apollos.....did these ppl die for u?

JESUS CHRIST did and Him alone....follow Him. Not charismatic, methodist or anglican watever...not Benny Hinn, Kong Hee, Prince, Pope..watever.....

Theoretically ideal.... but humanly difficult. How to do? Bible tells us to meet together regularly (Hebrews). Once we meet sure have to elect leader. Bible also tells us leaders are elected, even go as far as to set the rules for the office of the leaders (letters of Paul). So historically there are leaders and systems. Problem happens when leaders not close to God, or leaders choose to exalt themselves before God.
Sad

Leader shld act like router....bring ppl not to themselves but to God. some of them act like absorber....attract people's attention and bring them to him/herself.

Christ is the Head of the Church, His Body....how many ppl out there truly understands this??????

Chin Eng SG

You are so right... which is why I prefer the mainstream denominations where the checks and measures are in place.
Most of the pastors in my church really cares for the congregation and do not call attention to themselves but worked very hard in work for God, passionately.

Very Happy

sad to see some churches use charisma to draw crowds and hype stuffs to make ppl feel ego abt being the member of tt church.

given a simple atap house as a church...no pews..only sandy grounds to sit on.....no bands...jus a voice to sing.....

how many ppl bother to worship God in that church?

Chin Eng SG

Very Happy yup, still don't understand why churches need to upgrade their not-perfect, but still working sound system. Cannot assume God cannot hear their praises.....
I think basic amenities can be expected, ie air con, working microphone, but a 32 channel sound mixer for a congregation of less than 150.... I know this for a fact... some more want sound room for recording....

fandango SG

There's no love if there is no truth.

So for those churches that only preaches Love love love love and more love but leave the doctrines and the biblical truth in a corner, you have to be very careful.

Because they have too much money and do not know how to spend it. If they don't spend on the stereo, they will spend it on buying a new fountain or build a new church even though the old one is still beautiful. Next time maybe they have osim chairs for the members during mass

Chin Eng SG

Please look out for me on this one. I will rush to join this church. Got bad back.

stupidissmart SG

From the look of city harvest… it seems tat they can afford it but just didn’t do it. Anyway my begiining of the statement starts with a “may” and not “confirm”

Chin Eng SG

I know you were kidding, so was I... Very Happy
