shutthehellup SG yeah i was! but i reacted by smiling lor..i think i looked more amused than anything else.. but i was surprised at the low count of applicants opting to teach in chinese...it seemed that MOE needs more chinese teachers now..
sillyme SG don't worry too much.. at least you went to the interview.. my friend got rejected by letter.
shutthehellup SG hmm is that so.. i really dun mind teaching chinese lor...and one good thing abt chinese teachers is that they only teach chinese, whereas english medium teachers will have to teach english, maths, and maybe science.
sillyme SG i don't know what's the selection criteria.. but he grad from uni of western australia leh..
shutthehellup SG i shant hold high hopes then... hehe... even if i dun get in, i will continue in this student care centre, then earn enuff money to study teaching in private.
sillyme SG really don't know how they select one leh but i do hope they have objective selection process.. few years ago, they were just accepting any tom, dick and harry..
choco B SG The process is a blur to me too. I thought my friend would've bagged it. Yeah 4 years back they were less discriminating about selection. After the number of applicants shot up, it became more difficult to get in.
sillyme SG and some of these young teachers end up being sent to psychology sessions, you know? they can't take the pressure.
choco B SG Really? LOL It would've been easie to fire them Teaching is unique. It has its special set of problems and stresses that not everyone can handle. I do know that they get voice lesson in NIE. On voice projection and how to speak loudly without killing the throat. STHU would ace this module.
shutthehellup SG hehheh hehee.... i had my training when i was in Red Cross as a contingent commander.. yeah i think i will enjoy that module haha...if i am selected, that is.
sillyme SG really.. heard it from the teachers themselves lucky they don't (some are still using) use chalk now.. saves their lungs
