Yep maintenance is necessary.
At the very least, gotta apply some sculpting stuff after wash,
else will frizzzz.
After that, can twirl it like you said, into ringlets and leave to
dry. That's another 10-15 min more into your daily preperation time
:/ Maintenance & setting makes a difference in how the curls
turn out when dry.
