Hi guardsmen74, actually I don't hate army, quite like the life of it but just the stay in part abit sian. Thought regulars get to chose To stay in / out. As for the sign on bounty, thought I'll get it once I passed out as a 3sg?

hello wayne23 i oso nsman re-enlist after my 1st ICT 2 yrs after i ORD ( find that i like army life during ICT ) ppl will tink our kind is crazy don't bother abt them if u really like army life i will give u a word which i give my men b4 they ORD : " Don't work for the $ , just do what u enjoy n u will stay long in your job n $ will come when u advance in your position."

regarding stay out from my experience there is no staying out all the way from SISPEC to platoon SGT only night-off book in b4 2359hrs. my friend secretly stay out but have to came back camp very early in the morning ( u should know a phase in the army "what ever u do don't get caught" )

as for the $ i got a sum of $ after i sign the contact as engagement bonus the lump sum MINDEF help u do investment ( they claimed get more when contact end / retire ) those seving ard 2000 - 2005 era got a nasty shock , i will not talk anymore

got afew points for u don't be "rambo" take care of your own body if not u will be like WO Lee Teck Hong & me , SAF only cover 1 of my injuries i get in my service after i left the rest only albanian adcent " GOOD LUCK" the other points i update in next few day

2nd point don't even tink of getting a car when u holding rank from 3rd SGT to SSG ( unless yr family is well off ) u need at lest 4k p/m to own a car after deducting your daily expanses, family, house & kids if u r married if u don't manage your salary well u will start to borrow b4 pay day & will lead to my 3rd point

3rd point credit cards saw too many cases after u dig a hole u need to dig another hole to fill the 1st hole every year mindef will ask u whether u hit limit ( 2 1/2 x your salary if i m not wrong ) if yes u must declear, i got a good friend, a very good soldier thought he been a good soldier for been honest for declearing indebt. soon he is under investigation by a officer from another unit under the instruction from his S1 , a few mth later he got a letter of warning from mindef with a penalty of no promotion for 3 year even he is soon getting his next promotion

after he got ther letter of warning he is oso been inform by his S1 mindef wouldn't be considering him for the next phase have to leave the army when his 1st contact end ( i left the same time as he due to injuries ) no matter how good his skills are & all the experience he have this is just tip of iceberg even though we r the few who cut out for army life

after so many bad points must have good point 1.if u apply HDB u will get it very quicky 2. if your wife foreigner she will get her pink i/c very quicky of cos after a background check by gov ( my friend's wife got it within 1 yr )
