NS Clerk: How's Life? Office Hrs? 5-Day Work Week? Stay Out?

Jhearic SG

Hi, I just got my letter a dew days back saying that I have been posted to the SAF HRI. I know I'm a clerk. I'm just curious, what do clerks do and what kind of training do we receive during our 1 months modified BMT? Is there any form of weapons training or physical? What will they give us on our first day? I hear that all they're gonna give us is basically our uniform and a bag. That's all. Is that true? Cause I'm a PES E9L9 due to my heart condition. I have patent ductus arteriousus. Im physically fit but medically, its a different story. My past few NAPFA tests in secondary school were all gold and I personally feel my life wasted in. there

PES E BMT

The new 4-week BMT programme will be conducted for PES E recruits. This programme will focus on vocational training as well as National Education, SAF core values, regimentation and discipline to prepare recruits for combat service support vocations such as clerk and storeman.

Hi i’m from HRI as well.
Actually you guys will only be in there for 1 month, to mix around and make some frens, listen to lectures, but doesn’t exactly train u to be a clerk, cos that will only happen after ur posted to your new unit after the mod BMT. Where your new unit will be depending on your house location(only to a certain extent) and mostly, your luck. Then at the new unit u will be tasked to do things but mostly admin stuff. No worries! Its just like a normal 8 to 5 or 6pm admin job except for the pay and some %$#@ you will know when you are in.
Somehow for me days in HRI are the best except for the short lunch time.

Take care fellow recruit! Very Happy
