Commando VA Selection: When? If Not Selected, Can Appeal?

Lord dejavu SG

Hi all, may i know when is the vocational assessment for Commando? My best friend who is in his final year in poly would like to go for the test, but in the event that he doesnt get selected, he is considering writing to CMPB to appeal for a chance at it. I understand that it is Commandos choosing their recruits and not the other way round, but no harm trying.

thanks.

Nice one mod. Please note that i am not asking if he should appeal or not. Like totally. I am only asking for when the VA is held.

Rednano SG

thanks.

if your friend not selected, then appeal also no use because no chance already since they already made the decision to select an exact number of people to nicely form a battalion.

why do they want an odd one out extra carafare to add into an already proper-fit battalion size configuration?

Pathfinder07 SG

thanks.

There's no other way to get selected anymore, I went down to cmpb and tried volunteering for commando bmt but the lady at the counter told me if i'm not selected means that I'm out for sure. By the way, I was selected for the VA. I guess unless you sign on as a commando specialist or officer I don't think there's fair chance of you going in Pasir Ris Camp for BMT. I hope that clears up your doubt.

hi Pathfiner07, thanks for your response. May i know when was the VA, and if it is only conducted once annually?

Because they dont choose everybody who is selected for the VA as far as i know.

this i also know since I've already ORDed years ago while you are still a NSF...

you misunderstood what i said...
what i meant is, let's say if your friend went for the VA selection test and later know that he is not selected, then he appeal also no use because after the VA test, CDO HQ has already chosen those selected candidates who just nice form up a battalion out of all the attended candidates.

never kana selected go commando..............you must.........

slaughter chickens..........cows..........and lambs............

and pray to the gods................

if wanna appeal to be commando...........ask your friend to go IMH 1st........maybe his head 2 or 3 screws loose...........

Fatum SG

thanks.

yeah ... why not just try and ask ? ....

here's a true story .... once upon a time, there was this chap who was not even selected for the VA .... he was mighty pissed, cos when his letter came, he was actually posted to the SPF ....

so he went to see his MP ......and he got switched from blue to green and posted to 1st CDO ...

later on, he made spec, and went on to be one of the very very few NSFs to complete ranger school and get his ranger tab before he ORD'ed ....

that's more than one decade ago ....

if your friend wants it badly enough, then he has to go out and get it ...

If he isnt selected, he isnt going to appeal. At no point in my posts did i say he was. We're only concern that he doesnt get a chance at the VA in the first place.

May i ask why do you say this? I'm not from commandos so it will be great if you know something that i dont.
