Its not only the 2 years. But females should also serve, and have to cut their hair short and dyed black every year during reservice.

Those who have wasted their 2.5 years or even 3 years of their youth in the past weren't properly compensated also.

Have you done NS, and if so, in what capacity?

For nsf, 12 months training.

For regular or sign on, 24 months traning.

Regular and sign on must be fully fit and knowledgeable.

For ocs, 24 mths as they will be train to become officer.

For cpl and below, 12mths will do.

How about that?

Anyway, mindef, ministers or the authorities will not even want to heard about it.

Reduce NS to 1.5 year.

Abolish ICT.

Only take firing test and IPPT.

Fitness and ability to shoot and handle firearms can liao in my opinion.

Not just NS, alot of laws in singapore favour women, ie; women's charter.

Till date, I've served NS and several high key ICTs already. Waste of my time and company's time. My company is not supportive of me going ICT too, end up the women colleagues in my department have to take on my workload, on top of their already heavy workload.

When I returned from ICT, alot of things at work for me to clear also. So, the 2 weeks after ICT, I would be doing OTs every night for 2 weeks!

Not say ppl complain alot (no smoke without fire) but it is really unfair to be born male in Singapore. I've came so far, don't think I'll go for sex change ops or migrate out. Waiting for MR to come faster.

Go BMT. Whoever likes to "serve" so much can sign on as their own personal "choice", while the rest can move on to real jobs. Those who have already wasted their youth serving 2.5 years or more should be fairly compensated.

and in the long run, both genders suffer..

But think about those who are actually useful, those whose time,energy and talent are actually worth a shit. They should be doing their own work and contributing to the society in a proper way so that people can benefit, instead of going back every year to fuck spiders.

Then perhaps a system like what 'likeyou' said could work. OCS people and those who signed on do 24 months, the others do 12 months.

Isn't it always like that in life..some like it, some don't....well I guess, most people here when looked back, I won' t said enjoyable but it's isn't that bad. But most of us won't wanna go through the same thing again. But some people like it becos they said it allowed their mind to go take a rest from the stressful job.

Well, the issue is not whether people enjoy NS or not, but whether NS is good for us or detrimental. Just because guy enjoy the experience does not mean that it is worth the time, money, effort, or energy right? Just like playing CoD for 12 hours through the night could be enjoyable and and it gives people a break, but it is obviously a big bloody waste!

As I said, those who enjoy, don't think it's a waste....those who hate think it is.....no pt kept arguing over this....i seen this topic popping up every now and then.
